problem

national microfinance bank had developed technology to complete loan applications in the field. clients still had to travel to branches to make monthly payments, though. these trips utilized bank tellers' capacity and increased clients' total costs by up to 10% of loan payments.

actions

i raised financing from the united states agency for international development to fund the development of a mobile app. jordanian regulation did not allow digital loan payments, so i engaged with the central bank of jordan to modify it. i conducted user research, designed a prototype and tested usability.

achievement

national microfinance bank launched the arab world's first mobile app for microfinance, converting 25% of clients as users.
